Let's Talk Frozen Oranges and Potty Water

Backtracking to December 26,2010

After careful consideration, we decided to leave for our trip just after midnight. The intent was to have Addie nice and sleepy so that she would sleep for several hours and try not to throw her off schedule too badly.

Who were we kidding besides ourselves?

Traveling with Addie is a nightmare.

The trip down really wasn't so horrific, but Addie only slept off and on, which meant that nobody else got any sleep either.

I think we were all so excited about our first big family vacation with Addie that we somehow made it through.

When we arrived in Orlando - four hours earlier than check-in time (we left a big cushion of time for emergencies), we were thrilled to find out that we could check-in early - right after lunch.

The condo that I hunted down for our stay was perfect for us!

There was no way that I was going to be stuck in a hotel room for a week with Addie.

so basically it wasn't much different than at home!

This place was spotless and after I sanitized everything, I was content to let Addie roam about. She was very comfortable and had no problem playing in the living room

or climbing on our bed, she was just as happy as could be.
She was even thrilled to find out that she could flush the potty in our bathroom and then stick her hand into the swirling water...which meant that she got to sit on the counter while I washed and rewashed her hands.
In fact, Addie and this counter spent a lot of time together because she spent so much time sitting here while I cleaned her poor ear...time after time...
once again,
just like home.

So, after passing grove after grove of frozen oranges and after 24 hours of no sleep, we decided that there was no way we were venturing out in the freezing cold the first night.

Instead, the end of Day 1 was spent recuperating and preparing for the week ahead.
