Addie Mae Mae

While on the topic of school...

It will be a miracle in itself if Addie ever learns her real name.
I call her everything under the sun depending on how the mood strikes me. You guys know her by names such as:
Monkey
Chunkus
Chicken
Chunkey Monkey
Addie-Pa-Tattie
Monkus
Fungus Girl
Booger Girl, etc...

So, when a bunch of Addie's teachers at school ended up calling her something other than her real name, I didn't give it a second thought.

They call her "Addie Mae Mae".

Why?

I have no idea.

Apparently, since they have been calling her this for so long, she seems to think that it is correct.

This past Friday, one of the teachers asked me what Addie's REAL name was, so I told her.

On the playground later that day, a teacher went up to her and said, "Addison Ellis", to which Addie replied with a long, drawn out gibberish rebuttal that ended with words that sounded like, "Addie Mae Mae".

So...in other words, Addie set this teacher straight and informed her that her name was NOT Addison Ellis, it was Addie Mae Mae.

Only in the South....
