Chunky has mastered yet another skill. This seems small, but it was 22 months in the making.
As I have mentioned tons of times before, Chunky Monkey H-A-T-E-S her car seat. I always keep a snack on hand wherever we go. We are still not 100% sure of the cause of her distress - it's either pure rottenness or her equilibrium is so out of balance sitting in the back seat...regardless, it has been my job to hand her cheerio after cheerio, after raisin, after cracker, after puff for the longest time now. Monkey didn't have the coordination to hold a container and feed herself at the same time.
Until now.
On the way to therapy, traffic was terrible, I had to focus on driving, so out of desperation, I gave Monkey a little bowl with cheerios in it. I tucked the bowl securely in the crook of her left arm and showed her how to use her right hand to get the cheerios. She did GREAT! She never tipped the bowl over and even held it out asking for "more". This is a huge step towards developing her coordination...and for making the road a safer place to drive for the rest of you.
