Today was Addie's nine-month check-up.
Overall, we had a really good visit.
Dr. Dudgeon was very happy with the progress that Addie has made.
There were a few milestone questions that I answered "no" to (crawling, babbling) that he said really wasn't a big deal because there are "typical" babies at nine-months who aren't doing those things.
He was very pleased that Addie was saying "Mama" and responding so well!

Addie should have gotten three shots today.
I had a talk with Dr. Dudgeon and told him that I didn't want her to get more than one vaccine at a time, they had to be preservative free and no combined vaccinations.
There is just something nagging at me about these vaccinations and giving such large dosages at once.
He agreed to slow things down, so she got the flu vaccine today, will go back in two weeks for the Hepatitis B, two weeks after that for the flu vaccine booster and a month from then for the Polio Vaccine.
She didn't even cry during the shot today or when they took blood from her finger!
She was such a little trooper!
Her blood work did show that she is anemic, so we have to start a supplement tomorrow.
The most difficult part of the visit was when the conversation turned to head circumference.
We don't spend a whole lot of time discussing numbers because they really don't apply to Addie, but we did talk about prognosis.
Dr. Dudgeon didn't have any real answers for me because he knows as much as I do about what we can expect.
It's just impossible for us to be in the same room together and the conversation not turn to the future...maybe next time we can avoid the subject!
