Starting the Day

Julien wasn't home yet, so we decided to head out for lunch while we waited.

The Little Monkey was so super excited and had a hard time understanding that we had to wait on Julien before we could have the cake that it took us all morning to make.

We tortured her with a few pictures before going to one of her favorite places for lunch....Jason's Deli.
She is easy to please - take her to a place where she knows that she has access to ice cream and life is good.

I had to hold Moosletoe for the photo.
Addie is a nut!

We were desperate to kill some time while waiting on Julien.
We knew that if we went back home before Julien arrived, Addie would resort back to babysitting the cake and there was no reason to make us all miserable.

We took the long way home and went to the car wash.
I'm telling you...this Little Monkey is not hard to please!

Tri-Color Rainbow Foam

us telling the car to "close her eyes" because the shampoo had to be rinsed off

followed by the ginormous "hair" dryer to finish making the car nice and pretty, can be a very exciting process!

A Monkey and a Moose

Moosletoe, the very special class Moose, came home to spend Christmas with the Little Monkey.
Addie took very good care of Moosletoe and he stayed by her side throughout the entire Christmas break.

Moosletoe even shared Addie's very special day with us.

Addie made certain that Moosletoe had his photo op moments too!

As the Old Saying Goes

"It's what's on the inside that counts.".

When I asked the Little Monkey about her wishes for her birthday cake, I got a beautiful little smile as my answer.
We went to two bakeries and let her peer through the display cases at cakes in an effort to see if anything caught her attention.
At the second bakery, we got an excited little giggle when she saw a picture of a cat atop a cake in a book ("Rudy, Rudy!").

While we were laying in bed that same night, I asked Monkey about her cake and gave her several different options, all without a response.

When I asked her if she wanted a chocolate cake, her little eyes lit up.
When I asked her if she wanted an M&M cake, she replied, "Ma'am!".

I honestly don't know if she understood exactly what I was saying, but I'm sure upon hearing the combination of the words, "Cake", "Chocolate", and "M&M's", she knew there was only one correct response!
Smart Girl!

Cake #1 - our sad little homemade chocolate chip, chocolate frosting, M&M cake.
It may not look pretty on the outside, but it was one very yummy cake!
(Thanks to my great friend Paula S. for passing along the cake recipe a few years back!...sans the icing and M&M's.)

I can't tell you how long it took us to whip up the icing, frost the cake and then get all those tiny little M&M's on!

The Little Monkey loved every single second of it.
There was quite a bit of icing and about a thousand tiny M&M's that never made it onto the cake, but the mess and the tiny little tummy full of sugar first thing in the morning was worth it all.

One by one by one...

the M&M's were perfectly placed.

I was so proud of her!

Birthday Girl!

The Little Monkey's big day.

She was excited when she walked into the kitchen and saw the decorations she had picked out.

Her sleepiness quickly subsided when she realized that she would get to start her day by frosting her birthday cake!
She loves being my helper.
She was clapping and yelling, "Yay!".

She was so ready to get started and held out her hands to me saying, "C'mon Mommy, c'mon!".
I just couldn't help but get pictures of her sweet little face!

Unpacking and Getting Organized

It took the Little Monkey a few days to start unpacking and begin getting her new kitchen organized.

She is proud of all of her hard work and very proud to now have a big kitchen to store all of her food and dishes!

Now if we can just work on keeping the perishable items in the refrigerator and the milk out of the oven!

Ick, Blah, Cough!

The lovely winter bug has invaded our home.
Chris brought it home to us last Wednesday.
He was massively, disgustingly sick and in bed for two days.
I acquired the flu - actually went to the doctor and got all the meds I needed to ward of pneumonia and spent three days in bed.
Addie spent those same three days in bed with me because she had whatever Chris had.
Julien went to the doctor today and has Bronchitis and feels like complete DogSnot.

When we picked Addie up from school and she found out that Julien went to the doctor, she immediately had to start taking care of him.
She patted him and asked him if he was, "Sick?".
She got a boo-boo band-aid and placed it on his arm in an effort to make him feel better
and
then she went to the cabinet and asked for a fig cookie and offered it to him.
She watched with a look of concern to make sure that he took a bite.
She has walked to his room and looked in to make sure he is still there and asks, "Sick?".

Addie has had a lot to worry about lately and having Julien sick makes her so, so sad.

~~~  When he was getting out of the car yesterday morning for school, she called after him and said, "Bye Buddy!" and waved as we drove past.  ~~~
Her little heart of gold is absolutely precious.
Little Devil
Talk about a sneaky little devil - look at the look on her face!
I can't even remember why I grabbed the camera, but this picture is priceless!
She so thought she was going to get away with stealing Julien's stuff!
Celebrating Nine Years!
My sweet girl had a very busy day! We spent the day by having lunch at one of Addie's favorite restaurants, then I took her s...
