She's Paying Attention

Addie is very much a little Monkey who loves nothing more than to cuddle and pay attention to everything that someone says.  When someone is talking, the little Monkey always looks at them so intently and most of the time she will give some sort of verbal reply.  Usually I have no idea what she is trying to say, but she is great at trying to have a conversation.

Monday morning was absolutely typical.  We were in a rush to get ready and get out the door.  I was in the process of getting Addie dressed when she completely made me stop what I was doing in order to cheer for her and tell her what a "good job" she did.

As I was slipping her shirt over her head and putting her arm in, I reached through the arm hole and helped guide her arm through.

That completely made my day!  That meant that the little Monkey has been paying attention to the millions of times that we over dramatize everything in an effort to get her to pick up on what we are saying or doing.  I cannot tell you how many times I've said, "there it is" while getting her dressed, finding her shoes, looking at pictures, etc....

The little Monkey finally understood!

and then....

she hasn't said it since.

Which is typical for her.  I will hear something once and then it is gone.  Hopefully only gone for a little bit.

It's progress.  I'll take progress.  Even if it's only a little progress.
